Terms of Service
Effective 1 October 2026. These terms form the agreement between you and [Company legal name] for every VPS Lane service.
Who we are
VPS Lane is a service of [Company legal name], registered in [Country of registration] under number [Company registration number], with its registered address at [Registered business address]. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean [Company legal name], and "you" means the person or organization that orders or uses a service.
You can reach us at legal@example.com for legal notices and at support@example.com for everything else.
Accepting these terms
By creating an account, placing an order or using a service, you accept these terms and the policies they refer to: the Acceptable Use Policy, the Privacy Policy, the Refund Policy and the Service Level Agreement.
If you accept on behalf of a company, you confirm that you have authority to bind it. You must be at least 18 years old to open an account.
The services
We provide self-managed virtual private servers with the resources described on the plan you order: virtual CPU cores, memory, NVMe storage, a monthly traffic allowance, a dedicated IPv4 address and IPv6 addresses. Plan details and prices are listed on the pricing page and in the client area at the time you order.
Self-managed means we operate the hardware, network and virtualization layer, and you are responsible for everything installed inside your server, including the operating system after installation, software, updates, security settings and backups of your own data.
Your account
- Give accurate contact and billing details and keep them up to date.
- Keep your passwords, SSH keys and API tokens secure. Activity under your account is your responsibility.
- Tell us promptly at support@example.com if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
- We may ask you to verify your identity or payment method before activating or continuing a service, and may decline an order where verification fails.
Orders, billing and renewal
Prices are shown in the currency displayed at checkout and exclude any taxes we are required to add. Services are billed in advance for the billing period you choose and renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled.
We accept the following payment methods: [Accepted payment methods]. An invoice is issued for every payment and is available in the client area.
- If a renewal payment fails, we will notify you by email and may suspend the service after the due date.
- A suspended service that remains unpaid may be terminated, and its data deleted, after a further notice period stated in the reminder emails.
- We may change prices for future billing periods. We will give you at least 30 days notice by email, and the new price applies only from your next renewal after that notice.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel a service at any time from the client area. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless you ask for immediate termination. Refunds are handled under the Refund Policy.
Acceptable use
You must use the services lawfully and in line with the Acceptable Use Policy. That policy lists prohibited activities, including spam, network attacks, malware hosting and content that infringes the rights of others, and explains how we handle reports.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend a service without prior notice where it is needed to protect our network, other customers or third parties, where we receive a credible report of illegal activity or a serious breach of the Acceptable Use Policy, or where required by law or a competent authority. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why and how to resolve it.
We may terminate a service for repeated or serious breaches of these terms. You may terminate at any time by cancelling in the client area.
Your data
You own the data you store on your server. We do not access the contents of your server except where you ask us to, where it is needed to investigate abuse or a security incident, or where the law requires it.
You are responsible for backing up your data. Snapshots are a convenience and are stored on the same platform as the server, so keep independent backups of anything you cannot afford to lose. After a service is terminated, its disks and snapshots are deleted and cannot be recovered.
Service levels
Our availability target and the credits available if we miss it are set out in the Service Level Agreement. Service credits are your sole remedy for downtime.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability arising from or related to a service in any 12 month period is limited to the amount you paid for that service in that period.
Indemnity
You agree to compensate us for reasonable losses, costs and legal fees arising from a third party claim caused by content you host or by your breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to our services or the law. We will publish the new version on this page with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify active customers by email at least 30 days before they apply. Continuing to use a service after that date means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [Country or state whose law applies]. The courts of [Country or state whose law applies] have jurisdiction over any dispute, except that consumers may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where they live where the law gives them that right.
Before starting proceedings, please contact legal@example.com so we can try to resolve the issue.
